LCDR Thurman O. Jordan

Description:

  Born April 5, 1924, LCDR Jordan served honorably for over 30 years in three conflicts, WWII, Korea and Vietnam. Upon retirement LCDR Jordan continued to be very active in community events and in 2005 was awarded the USDA Forestry Service 'Wings Across America Habitat Conservation Award' for his volunteer contribution to the Ouachita native flora and fauna restoration. Ine 2013 LCDR Jordan was selected to place the wreath representing the US Navy at the Christmas Honors servcice at the US National Cemetery in Ft. Smith, AR. In 2019 he represented the Exchange Club by laying a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at the University of Arkansas Fort Smith. LCDR Jordan was a strong advocate for seniors and served 4 times in the 'Silver Hair Legislative Delegates' for Sebastian County. LCDR Jordan was an active member of the Ft. Smith Museum of History, life member of the Ft. Smith Heritage Foundation, the Ft. Smith Historical Society, the Ft. Smith Noon Exchange Club and the American Legion.

Smith, AR.  His military awards are many, including Air Forcre Outstanding Unit Award, Navy Good Conduct Medal with 3 bronze stars, Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign Medal with one silver and one bronze star, American Campaign Medal, WWII Victory Medal,  China Service Medal, Navy Asia Occupation Medal, Korean Service medal with one silver star, and FMF Combat Operations Navy Insignia, Vietnam Service Medal with 4 bronze stars, Vietnam Armed Forces Mertitorious Unit Citation with Gallantry Cross, and many others.
