Captain Clifford C. Mosier knew from a early age he wanted a military life. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy at the age of 17 under the U.S. Navy Delayed Enlistment Program. He was trained as a Aviation Electrician and made three Western Pacific cruises aboard three different aircraft carriers. He was honorable discharged just before his 21st birthday and enlisted in the Arkansas Army National Guard. He was offered and accepted Officers Candidate School graduating as a Honor Graduate of the 1967 class. Upon graduation he volunteered for Vietnam. He was informed the best way to get there was as a pilot.
Captain Mosier attended Primary Rotary Wing and Advanced Helicopter Schools, qualifing as a UH-1 Iroquois helicopter. He completed 3 Vietnam combat tours. During one mission with the Commanding General that Mosier was recognized by being awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. He also was awarded 31 Air Medals during the 775 flight hours he accrued.
After returning to the States, Captain Mosier performed various duties for the Army including Instructor Pilot for Vietnamese pilots. He was Honorable Discharged from the Army in 1975. In 1988 he was accepted in the Arkansas Army National Guard as a SGT (E-5). In 1991 he deployed in support of Operation Desert Storm. He was awarded a Bronze Star at the end of the deployment. He retired in 1998 as a full Army Captain after serving 39 years in the U.S. Navy, U.S. Army and Arkansas National Guard.
Captain Mosier continues to demonstrate his love of country through the American Legin, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Military Officers Association of America. Captain Mosier has instructed approximately 3500 5th grade students per year on the flag's history and proper etiquette as coordinator of the Northwest MOAA Chapter's Flag Education Program. He also initiated a program to install flagpoles at disabled Veteran's homes in Northwest Arkansas. He is the only MOAA member in the state to receive the "Award of Outstanding Service" from the MOAA National Headquarters.

Military awards include; Army Aviator Badge, Vietnam Service Medal, Distinguished Flying Cross, 31 Air Medals, Bronze Star, (2nd with Oak Leaf Cluster), Army Commendation Medal, (2nd with Oak Leaf Cluster), Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Armed Forces Reserve Medal.
