Maj Michael V. Taylor

Description:

Maj. Taylor enlisted in the US Air Force for four years before a branch transfer to the US Army Reserves and then to the Arkansas Army National Guard. He first deployed during Operation Desert Storm/ Desert Shield. Maj. Taylor was commissioned a Second Lt. through the Arkansas Military Academy's Officer Candidate School, and completed the Air Defense Artillery Branch Course then assigned to C Battery, Battalion 233rd Air Defense Artillery Regiment.  In 1997 his branch transferred once again to aviation  upon completion of Initial Entry Rotary Wing Aviation Regiment. In July 2005, Cpt Taylor assumed command of C Company, 1st Battalion, 185th Aviation Brigade.

On Jan. 20, 2007, Cpt Taylors aircraft designated "Easy 40" was shot down over northern Iraq during combat operations. All on board were killed. CPT Taylor was posthumously promoted to the rank of MAJ.

Taylor, deceased, killed in action..  His awards include posthumous promotion to Major, Bronze Star, Army Commendation Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Purple Heart, Air Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Natioal Defense Service Medal, Senior Army Aviation Badge and is a member of the Arkansas Army National Guard Officer Candidate School Hall of Fame.
